The night before the shoot I have decided to set up all the equipment and the set to save time on shoot day. The hardest part of the preparation was blacking out all the windows to make the room pitch black. This was so we could control the light artificially using lamps and candles. I prepared all the props I was responsible for and this meant blacking out the logo on the whiskey bottle. The kit we were using was a sony DV camera and two directional microphones. This camera has a manual focus and therfore allowed us to gain complex shots by shifiting focus from foreground to background.
